This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Well, fortunately the latest version of our batch workaround is working fairly robustly, for me at least, so I'm not too worried - should be straightforward to convert to something unobtrusive.

    BTW fellow unpaid Microsoft beta testers, this problem does not occur in Linux Mint (kernel 3.19)

    Do make sure you test it an adequate number of times before claiming so, because as we know you have been saying "Fixed it..." and "Oops no, NOW it's fixed" for some time now. :D

    Well, it took a few trials and errors to get at a fix which works probably 95% of the time. I'm actually appalled at lack of input from the official Alienware reps, who do sometimes make cameo appearances here when convenient. Dellienware should be doing to work not us.
