So given have installed a new M.2 SSD from a third party, and my AW15 only came with HDD, I figured to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 using the drivers from the support page.

    Unfortunately, I have two issues:

    1) Most importantly, AW Command Center 4.0 will not install. It comes up with an error "The update installer operation is unsuccessful". Anyone know what that means and how can fix?
I found out how to fix this one myself. Turns out that the support site only shows the command center updater by default. By clicking into "other versions available" can download the full installer :)

    2) Despite installing all the drivers on support page, still seem to be missing something. In my device manager can see uninstalled/ alert hardware under 'other devices' item for "PCI Simple Communications Controller" and two "Unknown Device". Any ideas? I downloaded and installed the following in this order so don't know what is missed:
    - Chipset
    - Intel RST
    - LAN
    - Wireless
    - Airplane mode switch
    - Video card
    - Audio
    - Bluetooth (although this failed, Windows update installed one that worked)
    - Media card reader
    - Touchpad

Thanks in advance for assistance :)

I think that can be avoided by using seagates disk transfer utility where you can just select to transfer the is and apps only

Only thing I think that you have missed is the driver for the aw15 pcle port and maybe the DVD drive

Yes I've narrowed it down to the PCI-E port so just trying to find appropriate. There is no DVD drive in this model.

I think it is the Intel 8 Series/C220 Series so just trying to track down a driver which is proving tougher than it seems...

Scratch that, installed Intel chipset driver that now shows that up.

I believe the missing culprit might be the Kionix freefall sensor. That driver installer seems to get an error, perhaps as it is just an updater? Need to find a full proper driver for it, can anyone help there?

Can you post the HW ID?
