    I am trying to connect my old JVC mini DV camcoder to the Alienware 17, through its thunderbolt port at the back.

    My camcoder has a mini firewire output which I then connect to the alienware's thunderbolt port via an Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter.

    When I plug it in nothing happens it does not even recognise something was plugged in. Maybe I need a device driver or something?

    Can anyone please help?
