    Hi guys,
Just wondering if anybody else has slower restart / shutdown /bootup times with the 17 R4 , than say the Alienware 18 ?

I have the NVME SSD so i would have thought it would be quicker but doesn't appear so. Is there a setting in the bios i should disable etc? the read / write of the SSD is matching what it should be so im a little lost :S

Disable hibernate and check startup programs using task manager. Disable unnecessary startup programs.

Check your BIOS time - it's possible that the BIOS is simply taking longer to load.

It's bios related i think, takes a while just to initiate the actual alienware logo, were talking seconds but still.. want it super speedy.

I do think if you restart the computer it should take a few seconds to start up so you can enter bios. there is a limit to how fast a human can spam a button to enter bios.

Shutdown or startup not so much thou.

i was just comparing it to the Alienware 18 , the load up times etc seem much more speedier on that bios. I bet there is some sort of setting in the bios causing the slower initiation

Task manager can show you how much time the BIOS took to load when doing a cold boot - check that. That's usually the culprit in these cases.

    How?

Yes, it is the BIOS, very slow to load.

Then overall boot time should be around 12-13 seconds from a cold boot.

Mine reports 6.5 seconds. Yours is faster. Are you using any 3rd party AV?
