    Hey all,

I've had a Razer Blackwidow tournament for about 18 months and i've had no issues until recently, where it would randomly stop responding and i get a windows notification saying "USB device not recognized", i went to device manager and it seems that something is going wrong with the kb's Device Descriptor, I tried reinstalling the drivers but it's no different.

I had tried cleaning up some of the mechanical switches with ethanol (70% ethyl alcohol) while the keyboard was disconnected (i had chattering on some of the switches), and i let it dry for about 30 minutes.

Idk if its a physical issue or a software problem, any ideas?

With Razer keyboards you never know, they actually pull a bit too much power to begin with.

Best to test it on another system i think?

do you think that the ethanol cleanup i did could've damaged something?

If you let it fully dry out after reconnecting it it should have been a problem. If not it could have short circuited.

well i'm pretty sure it was fully dry, but besides this problem, once the keyboard is identified it working without problems at all, it is an intermittent thing, like if the issue occurs i just reconnect the USB and the KB works again, it usually happens when i move the keyboard or when i first plug it in.

Can be a cable short/faulty plug.
