Hi everybody, my friend has an AW 17 r3, it works like a charm but it's keyboard seems to have a serious problem: when he uses Left and Up arrow keys together, he can't chain them with either W or D and that makes him impossible to play PES or FIFA. Is anybody experiences this too? He've tried to replace the keyboard but it doesn't fix the problem. :D He hasn't tried that combination on external keyboard yet. And I have an AW M15x and I don't experience that problem though.
Update: He tried that key combination on an external Keyboard and it works like a charm. He also contacted Dell for a motherboard replacement since he though that it's a firmware error as replacing the keyboard didn't solve the problem

Do some research into sticky keys, it is an option in windows. You can even look it up in your search bar in windows. It will allow you to set it up.

I think this is more of a hardware/firmware issue. Someone else posted this being an issue when you type really fast.

it still works on external keyboard, so it doesn't seem like a sticky keys problem

even when he types slow, it still doesn't regconize the combination :confuse:

Nope, I haven't seen that either. There are some key combinations that don't work on Windows but that's definitely not one of them. Seems like a refresh/reinstall (to rule out SW) and then replacement parts if it goes on.

I heard keyboard complaints because of bios bugs. Next to thethe ssd nvme reboot bugs that need to be fixed. Is there an ETA on a new update? Many users including me cant reboot the system because after a reboot the ssds are not recognized until i shutdown and turn on the laptop again.

We have escalated it already and have no ETA for the outcome yet. If anything, I'll create a new thread.

Most keyboards can only do 2/3KRO before giving out an error.

    Just a guess.

Is there anybody using AW 17 R2/R3 or AW 15 R2 can confirm that the combination work? If so, could you please provide me some image of you doing that combination and the result in passmark keyboard test.
    My best regard. :D

well, but I haven't seen a keyboard with this idiot problem, even a 5$ keyboard can perform that combination with ease. I can't imagine that a hi-end gaming laptop like AW 17 R3 has this problem while the old M15x doesn't

This combination doesnt work. All others do though. Just that one. I do know there is a recent keyboard bug in the bios which has not been solved yet.

No membrane keyboard has zero ghosting issues. But the redundant lines seem not to support that variation.

Do not forget that Aw Echo is in version 2 now. The first version went on sale early 2015. 2 revisions of the same machine aka keyboard without anything being done... Soon will also Alienware Echo rebadged laptop version 3 be launched. Someone who believes in Santa Claus??? This will never ever be fixed on those old models. Sorry, but so it is.

If it is a softwar elimit it can, if it is pure hardware ghosting it cant.

They cant fully prevent it and maybe thought the combination of arrow keys and wasd keys are less common than for lets say wasd, spacebar and control and the same time. On all keys the limit if 5 I noticed except for when using the arrow keys. Then the limit becomes 3.

FIFA and PES players use those combination on the keyboard the most if they don't have a controller
