    Something weird happened today...

I have an AW15, 970M i7-4710HQ. When I use it, it is always plugged in.

I was doing some light browsing and word doc work, temps were low and then the laptop started to feel sluggish.

I went into task manager and saw that the speed of the CPU was under 800Mhz. Restarted my laptop, and it was still at that speed. I then removed the power cord from the computer so it was running on battery and the speed jumped up. Then when put the power cord back it went to the normal 3.4Ghz and everything was snappy again.

Could anyone tell me what happened and how I can make sure that doesn't happen again?

Seems like a glitch to me. Let us know if it continues to happen. Also, there's a new BIOS (A06) out there! Let me know if you have any feedback about it.

The centre id pin of your adapter is wearing down. Check in bios for ' beep on adapter check' or somesuch.

Reason is that Dell wants you to buy a ' genuine Dell' adapter and these send an id check to the laptop. No 'Dell' = 800MHz downthrottle. Some background information and solutions:
Of course, buying a new adapter would solve that, too ... except that it's perfectly fine otherwise and the new psu will do the same thing after a while. Alternatively, you could use ThrottleStop.

Wow, that's pretty weird. Well if it happen's again, I'll let you guys know as well as Dell.

Besides that, this laptop has been pretty awesome.
