How's almost nobody talking about this?
Does the OC work without the amplifier?
How is it working? Temps?
-
This is a BGA processor. Can't hold max Oc'd clock speed 24/7. Why bother?
-
I have mine setup with the Amplifier 980ti and OC the laptop to LVL 2, 4 ghz stable. LVL 3 became very unstable.
-
Coz I've read that this time with Skylake it's a bit different.
So BIOS OC is only available with GA?
Anyone tried Intel Extreme Tuning? -
No it OC's on both setups I disconnect it and all it does it switches to the 980m does not change anything else.
-
Ok, and how does the clock speed look like when you run Prime95 or something like this?
Also, how about the temps? -
wonder if it holds its tdp and clocks for more than 2.5 minutes...

My 6820hk will stay at 4ghz on all cores running prime95 large FFT's for as long as I want but does tend to get hot after a while, this is in a 17R3. I can game at 4ghz solid with no drops for hours without any heat issues.

Got all core at 4 ghz idle temp is 41c the highest I got was 75c. I do have the laptop on a cooler.

@blown9350lx @Dan.J Can you run and post the result with pict of Wprime 1024 (8 treads) stress test max OC'd. Monitor with Xtu. The Multi should not drop in the stress test. Put high performance in power plan and not balanced mode. Hwboot version http://www.putme.net/wPrime155.zip and newest http://www.putme.net/wPrime210.zipLast edited: Oct 29, 2015jaybee83 likes this.

Mine stays at 3.9 GHz for all cores stable. I did a repaste with Liquid Ultra... Temps dropped by around 5-7c. Cooling is better with skylake

Try 4x4.1 or 4x4.2Ghz and test with Wprime stress test. This is an unlocked processor so go on. All four shall finish at max multi.jaybee83 likes this.

Is the 6820HK soldered on the board? meaning no future upgrade?! if so then that sucks.
I don't mind that the HK is a reduced feature version of the CPU but was attracted more by the overclock. Upon reading through this thread it's not looking good for Skylake AW.. Maybe they'll refresh to a better processor and if it's a solder job - would I be better off waiting for a hypothetical 6840HK? (or 6960X
)..

-
Okay, but are they soldered? I mean if the HK is TDP unlocked and also can be upgraded then it's okay for me. What's the problem with BGA?

Ah, thanks.. Yeah now I see why you hate them so much hahaha..

Important with proper description. Soldered CPU / GPU = BGA junk. Look under my avatar / nickname.jaybee83 likes this.

Hello.
Can all of you please handle the stuff in this thread? http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-yet-i-want-guinea-pig-i-mean-testers.782689/
I keep looking for users and nobody seems to show up for more than a couple minutes. It'd be great to get some conclusive evidence please. -
well thus far its looking good for the 6820hk, im pleasantly surprised it can hold its clocks indefinitely
now for the tdp part...wondering if the tested 4ghz is still inside its official tdp envelope. if it is, ull need to overclock further or use a different stress test to breach the tdp limit and see if it still holds its clocks! best thing to do: follow D2 ultima to his testing thread and apply his instructions there, thatll give us some more definitive answers
