    A DisplayPort cable is all you need. The monitor should be compatible, but you may not be able to achieve this refresh rate due to the video card having to go through the Intel card. The graphics amplifier should get this done for you.

    Thanks for the reply. I would really prefer not having to buy a graphics amplifier (I'm a bit broke). Does anyone know if it is possible to run at either 120hz or 144hz using displayport, through the Intel card, on a 17 r2 980m ?
