    Hi All,

I have the 17" r4 with the updated 120hz QHD G-sync screen (AOC B173QTN01.4). This is the new version without the horizontal lines. The colors look a little washed out to me. Is anyone aware of an ICC calibration file for this display?

Interested in this also, ill be honest I have never calibrated a screen before. Tho I don't really do anything that requires it. But if anyone has a file and is willing to share would be awesome. =D

I think ultimately it's going to come down to personal preference. I have access to a professional screen calibrator and after using it I didn't like the results at all. It lowered the brightness and made everything way more warm then I would have liked. Everyone is different and trying to use someone else's color profile is going to be like hitting a bullet with a smaller bullet while blindfolded riding a hose as everyone is going to have a different opinion on what looks good and what does not.

I really wish Alienware would bring back the glossy displays as those went a long ways to restoring the washed out colors IMO. As far as I am concerned any matte screen looks washed out compared to a glossy panel. I would swap in a heart beat if I could.

prob with glossy screen is that if you have a light source behind you then you see all the reflections

I don't think I ever encountered a situation in 4 years were I was like...this damn glare! To me the much better colors are worth the risk.

Try moving around a well lit server room all day trying to use a glossy screen, you will wish for the days of a matted one. =) This is one of the main reasons I steer clear of glossy, it reflects way to much in brightly lit rooms. At home its alot less of a problem as I can choose where I setup, at work im always at a problem node normally with a 100-200 watt light bulb directly above me.

Must depend on the lights. I have had mine in my Data Center and didn't really have an issue but it could very well depend on the lighting used.
