Well it was all going so well...Right up until my LCD panel failed :( it could just be the cable is loose which I'll check tomorrow, but in case not it's no drama. Everything else is running sweet soo just assessing my options. Obviously I'm gonna do the work myself but currently it's a toss up between the UHD 60Hz G-Sync and the QHD 120Hz G-Sync. The extra resolution doesn't bother me (I'll probably step it down to QHD anyway) but the 100nits brightness difference does as well as the colour accuracy being better on the UHD. I've been used to 120Hz G-Sync for quite some time now. Mostly I'm running games around 100FPS so...
    1. Will I really notice the difference so long as 60Hz screen is G-Sync?
    2. Is the UHD glossy finish or Matt?
    3. Other people's opinion on what to do? I'm not that fussy an individual I guess...
    4. Also I believe there is a third option. An IPS LCD QHD which runs at 120Hz. Can anyone provide any info on this and where to buy?
    5. Where can I buy either screen?

For G-sync it will only work until you are below 60fps on 60Hz screen and is only helpful in fixing tearing. Once your fps crosses refresh rate, G-sync won't do anything to stop tearing. You would have to enable V-Sync+G-sync or use a fps limiter to avoid tearing. On much more frames like 120-150fps on 60Hz, you might even experience micro stuttering with G-sync turned on. G-sync adds a input lag of around 3ms compared to no g-sync, but that is negligible and no one can notice that. I do use G-sync on 120Hz and 144Hz panels since frames don't exceed refresh rate.

For 60Hz vs 120Hz, best way to experience the difference is to choose 60Hz setting on 120Hz. Mouse cursor skip less in windows, dragging windows is less jerky and turning around the player in games with mouse is enough to tell which refresh rate it is. You know the 120Hz difference already though.

    Hah,
Stripped all the LCD and mobo down tonight and gave it all a thorough check over. Turns out the cable had just become loose, phew! :)

I don't have much experience, just bought 1 panel from Aliexpress. There is

    http://www.screencountry.com/

    https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/

You can look for a local seller on ebay or amazon. Then there is AliExpress where you can find most of the panels, but with long shipping time. Make sure the seller ships the exact panel before buying and not any compatible panel.

I wouldn't recommend changing panels though to any other than stock ones. There is brightness control loss and g-sync doesn't works.
