Hi guys looking to modify a cooling pad to support 2 Noctua high-end CFM fans 80+CFM each.
Anybody know the parts i need like a HUB , So DC > Into hub > fan adapter at the end?
I recall @Mr. Fox doing this a long time ago, but those parts are no longer available and i am also from the UK
Cheers all in Adance !!

waste of money, does not do anything more then regular fans that comes with ur cooling pad

errrr.. best solution to reduce heat is doing a repaste and if you want more undervolt cpu and the best one for me that really helps and is a extremely easy trick is to elevate the bottom of your laptop for better airflow.. I use a small scotch tape on each side to elevate the vents.. hope this helps..

Reason to get a cooler, one word three letters
PCH
That thing overheats like a mother frecher. So to push cool air in that is the only reason I would say get a cooler + you need to mod the pch... so there is that as well -
That has to be loud AF though.

of course if you put two 3000 rpm fans under it it will be marginally better but that's extra 20 dB, together with the 40 db from the laptop how can you even use the thing? If you don't care about noise might as well turn on the performance fan mode which is free and works way better.

How do you control the rpm?
I am making a custom one with 3 corsair ML120's using a Case control fan to control it manually. Looking for dust filters.
Think you can go upto 2400 rpm but when I put it on without controller (connected it to a 12v connection) it sounded really high pitched.... so something around 400-1000 rpm enough to push air though. Then maybe I can lower the laptop fan speed. -

custom fan control on AW is still not good, when using HWinfo the fan would jump between 2500 rpm and 4200 rpm even when the temp is in the 4200 rpm range and that gets old real quick.

laptop is already fully repasted +pch is heat sink modded. All 17 r4 mods have been done, just fancy a challenge!

Btw... Below ambient temp with a desktop Core i7 in laptops. Maybe you don't belive this either?

good try but that's not AW17, different cooling design and different chassis, Also don't put words into my mouth, I use a cooling pad too, but spend extra $100 to mod the fans is just not worth it. But hey if you got money to burn be my guest.Last edited: Jul 15, 2017 -
You could build a portal that lets gamers and OC'ers ro transport to your place if they want to break OC records with LN2 coupled with your world Freeze mutant power. Hahaa. -
-
Would you mind me asking the specs for your custom cooler, and parts list if not too much hassle? -
sorry to bump an old thread just wondering if anybody with the know how can point me in the direction of some parts please?
-
Why? Because it would be breaking the laws of thermodynamics. -

Maxed fans shut off. 0.3C over ambient temp.
Edit. Maybe read the following post by bro @Mr. Fox. As well take a look on what I always do when I get new hardware in hands. Afterwards I push it to see if my mod/tweaks work as intended.Last edited: Aug 26, 2017 -

I finally got around to building her and she is all done =)
Pretty amazing.
Went with Notepal u3 as the base.
2 x 120mm Noctua High performance Industrial 3000RPM Fans.
Asetek Fan controller
AC > Molex converter.
Super happy - knocked off 30 degrees off my PCH when at full fans, much better on CPU + GPU as well, overall cost £110, so pricey but i like a challenge !!
GTX 1080 is hitting around 60 degrees under stress tests and hitting 190 Watts.. so again pretty chuffed
