Yeah Vasudev said that and referenced to your results.

But yeah the thing is once, the RTX functions are being implemented our 10XX cards will all be kinda lacking quite quickly unfortunately. You can bet Nvidia will push it.

Hey @judal57 does the AGA have an air extraction fan or does it rely on the GPU card fan? I have almost convinced myself to get a 2080 founders edition but that card directs the hot air out the side not out the rear of the card.

There's an intake fan in the front (where the color changeable Alienhead is), a vent along the side where the GPU intake fan would be, and then the PSU exhausts out the back. I have never seen someone complain about thermal issues within the AGA and mine runs extremely quiet even when gaming.

Running a AGA with 1080ti or even 2080 for 13r3 with oled screen would be overkill correct? I mean 60hz refresh rate it would not even be worth it to get. For those who have the 13R3 what’s your take on this. I understand the laptop will be cooler but performance wise?

Hi guys, got my 1080ti and amplifer, installed the drivers...

Thing is the amplifier was used and didn't have any instructions so I can't actually work out how to use the 1080ti instead of the internal 1080 which it's currently defaulting to.....

Can anyone tell me how to use the 1080ti instead of the 1080?

    Thanks in advance!!

use the AGA for an external display, so your laptop would be like a chasis. you will get all the performance. you can use a TV with higher resolution tan 1080p. the meaning of the AGA is to me is to play at high refresh rate monitor or higher resolution like 4k

In addition to the Nvidia FE cards, the EVGA 2080 Ti XC Gaming fits perfectly in the AGA. It's basically an FE card in every way.

I'm a bit curious about your choice (1080ti) because, there were threads saying that a Laptop 1070 is outperforming a 1080ti eGPU. With your system (1080) the only upgrade thru eGpu would've been a 2080ti. Anybody's 2 cents here?

There’s no way a laptop 1070 is outperforming a 1080ti in the AGA unless there’s an issue with someone’s setup.

I will say my 1080 in the AGA significant performs better connected to my 17r5 than the 17r3

Well I can't speak for someone else's setup, but my 1080Ti is absolutely outperforming my laptops 1080 considerably. I will probably upgrade to 2080Ti or RTX Titan at some point soon, but truth be told for the resolution I game at (3440x1440 @ 100Hz) my setup is more then adequate.

AGA doesn't substantially hinder a cards performance...

This is correct. Those cards should perform fine. My old 13 R3 OLED with my Titan X (Pascal):

Hello guys, i have a question! I have a alienware 17 R5 and i just bough an alienware amp (used) with a 1080 ti.

I shut down my computer then i connect the data cable to my laptop. After the first boot the external card seen to not be recognised so i reboot again. After the second reboot 2 secondes after i'm getting in windows the screen go black and never come back and the resolution is big like the driver or the OS getting corrupted. The only way to me to resolve this probleme is by installing back windows 10..... 3 attempt and same probleme... I Guess the amp is defect?

    Sorry for my poor english!

Use DDU to uninstall old nvidia drivers and reboot.

Then install GeForce Experience by itself. Once that is installed you then use GEForce Experience to install the nvidia drivers.

GeForce experience is required to enable the AGA

Nobody has ever had to reinstall Windows to get it to work. Not sure why you did that.

That why i think my AGA is defect... I mean i connect AGA then power my computer evrything boot fine but the external GPU seen to be not recognised and my computer still work on my 1080 Max-Q. I open geforce experience and i have and error message. So i close and reboot. Now the fun start.. windows boot and 2 secondes after the screen turn black... i disconnect the AGA i reboot and same probleme until i re-install windows..... The AGA corrupt my video driver or something.

That's usually the case when the external GPU is connected via TB3 (basically, any other laptop but Alienware), but not when it's connected via Alienware's proprietary connection (goes directly to PCI-E bus, rather than through some controller as with TB3, IIRC).

Always wondered why nobody else uses a similar setup as TB3 performance hit is horrendous, while the external cases are expensive. Looking at some test at egpu.io, I remember getting the impression that some newer Macbook seems to have had a smaller performance hit due to a better TB3 controller used, but I might be wrong.
