I have a 17R3 with Windows 10 and an external display and speakers connected via an HDMI cable. I have Windows 10 set to Do nothing if I close the laptop so that I can use ONLY the external display.

For some reason if I wake the laptop it tries to use the laptops display and I have top open/close the lid for it to use ONLY the external again. Also, if I boot the computer I have to wait till I have logged in before I can close the lid. If I close the lid during boot I then have to open and close it again to get the login screen to show up on the external display.

Anyone know how I can solve this?

try display settings, show only on 1 or 2 depending how you have it setup.

That could do it ^^. You could also try reinstalling the video drivers or setting the same thing on the nVidia and Intel driver. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid it would be the expected behavior.
