A few months ago my 17 R3 started to have an issue where the screen (or screens if my TV was on) would go black and the machine would stop responding. The keyboard would remain lit. All I can do is a hard reset by holding the power button until it turns off then restart. No BSOD or any error message on startup.

It happens randomly, more often when the machine is sitting idle. I have updated all drivers to the latest, and did a clean install of the Nvidia drivers when this started. Not overheating according to the temp logs and is on AC power.

Any suggestions as to a diagnostics program I can leave running in the background to possibly log the event (Event View hasn't been helpful)?

Have you tried installing latest Intel HD GFX drivers from Intel site or Dell site? Most of the problems occur because of it. The issue occurs suddenly and causes the PC to be unresponsive to any keystrokes even Ctrl + Alt + Del and only a power reset could fix it, a momentary hack.

I did not know they just updated the Intel Drivers. I have the previous version, so I will update and see if that helps. Thank you!

I always update directly from Intel Website. @rinneh is the one who notified about this.
