Does anyone notice a haze or dirty graininess to the 4k Screen?

When looking at white or light backgrounds the screen appears dirty even though it's clean.

I'm used to matte screens and this screen is definitely the least clear I've used. Is this how all the 4k screens are?

No issues here as well. I'd contact Dell to get it replaced.

    Is it a glossy touchscreen?
The QHD+ of the A13 has a slightly graininess too. Only from very close and when looking white background.
At some point my old M17x with glossy screen had that too.
My guess is that it come from some diffraction from the glossy plastic that they use.

I have that too, and I thought it was ubiquitous... Maybe different people have different perception thresholds? I talked to someone who said his 17r3 had no such problem, and I asked him to look closely while slightly shaking his head with the screen showing a solid white color, and he did see the graininess. I, on the other hand, think it's pretty noticeable in normal use on a light background color..
Also, the 4k screen of 15r2 also had this problem.

Do you have the 4k R3?

After reading the other replies I returned my computer. I was hoping I just had a bad display. Between this graininess issue and applications that don't scale correctly I was thinking of getting a 1080p display instead.

Does the 1080p display have this same graininess?

Yes, I have a 4k 17r3, which I replaced from a 4k 15r2. I had exactly the same problem with both. I'm not sure whether it is because I'm now more used to it or my 17r3 is actually better than the previous 15r2, my current one is somehow less severe with this issue.

For FHD panels, I never had one of those, but I heard they do not have this problem.

You can be sure that everyone has these issues with 4K. Some people have deteriorated eyesight so they think they don't.

    See my thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/4k-vs-1080p-side-by-side-aw17r3.785993/

We have looked at couple of 17r3 4Ks in different places and all have the same. I do not understand how this came to be as AUO was supposed to be using less-tinting in their panels (17% as opposed to 29% with regular matte).

I returned the 4k computer to Microsoft and ordered a 1080p screen from Dell.

I am much happier with the 1080p screen and do not see any haze. I don't know if I just had a bad 4k screen but I didn't want to risk having to return another computer.

I have the 4k on the AW15R1 and noticed graininess too when I first got it. Someone said it was due to the capacitive touch layer, and not the lcd itself.

AW has started using a second supplier for the 4K screens. In a second unit I got due to a first unit having crazy loud coil whine, I got a SHP1446 4K screen. It is absolutely awful compared to the beautiful AUO screen on the first. Take a look at your device manager and see which display you have.

The second unit resolved the coil whine (for the most part, still very very minor once in a while), so I swapped the screens from the two units.
