I've just noticed on AW's site that the UHD is no longer offered on the i7-6820HK laptop?
Strange....because it's still available on the 15" R2's (i7-6820HK w/ UHD)....
Any ideas?
My theory:
1. Supply issue.
2. Perhaps the UHD taxed the bigger 17" 4k screen too much = over heating?
3. A refresh in the horizon?

I've just called AW to inquire about this and either the guy was just agreeing with me or he was just genuinely ignorant and didn't know why he was even there....typical....
I said, "....So was the UHD 17" taxing the 980M GPU too much causing heat issues?..."
He replied, ".....yea...yup...that's it....you got it...."

Lol you can't really expect sales people to know anything technical beyond what's printed on their script. =p I was amazed when my sales rep knew there were 2 ram slots (is that even true?).

iunlock,
I've seen this in the past, I believe it's just their site updating different configurations. Some get locked out, like you see now, it should come back within a week or two. It *could* be related to supply, but I doubt it, I am about 95% sure it's just a way to change their pricing and shift numbers to keep sales going strong.
Normal consumers won't catch on to the pricing scheme, but I've been following it for so long now, I believe I've figured it out. Interestingly, Subway does the same pricing mix up, I believe it's a smart way to create the illusion of sales and good prices. -
"...so you can't put 32GB's?..."
"....No only 16GB's that is all..."
(Impersonating a sales rep. Complete ding bats. Sigh....LOL)zergslayer69 likes this. -
It does play mind tricks on you though eh? When I had seen the UHD option was missing for the 6820HK, I was almost ready to buy up the last ones floating around haha...
Would you happen to know if the UHD and FHD are interchangeable? Plug in and play? I haven't confirmed if they both have the same pins....hmmm...
Update: The UHD uses 40/40 pins and the FHD 30/40....I guess it's just a matter of obtaining the cables with the proper pin and the rest is history.Last edited: Jan 27, 2016
