So ever since December my system has been getting these weird freezes within games. It would randomly intermittently freeze (though voice chat might still be heard clear), then completely lock up until I do a hard reset. Once it starts freezing nothing works, I cant ctrl+alt+del to task manager or do anything else.

I've checked eventviewer and all it is saying is:
Temps are fine, as it doesn't reach over 76C on GPU and 65C on CPU when gaming. It doesn't seem to be draining the battery either so I doubt it's a PSU issue (but could be?).

So far I've done a reset of Windows 10 and the issue still persists. Installing different Nvidia Drivers makes no difference and same goes for Intel iGPU drivers. It happens very randomly. Sometimes I can game for 2 hours without anything happening and other times it will happen the second I jump into a game server.

I have about 5 days left on one year on-site warranty so if it's a hardware issue I'd like to have it sorted before that period is up. Most references I can find on google regarding this error either have to do with PSU's being faulty or the graphics card.

    I have the 13R3 with i7 7700HQ and 1060GTX with 16GB RAM.

I had this same problem, but it happened after only about 3 minutes of gaming. I did the same troubleshooting as you and ultimately had to replace the motherboard (it was already a replacement). I would definitely tell them about it right away and at least have the Charger replaced. Getting my motherboard fixed has been a total nightmare, I am on my 3rd board and this one has a broken CPU fan slot so the CPU fan was not working at all until I opened it up and saw what was going on. I can't say I recommend going that route, especially if you can avoid it, but I also suspect your problem will get worse over time if it is in fact the graphics card. Hopefully your issue is the PSU. Good luck!

could be a pch temperature throttling. try to put a 2.5mm thermal pad above PCH. also dont forget to use software like hwinfo64 to look the temperature of everything while gaming

Thermal pad would block the airflow and it acts like a heatshield. You need a heatsink and airflow to make it useful. Cant just stick thermal pads on anything to attempt to cool it down.

PCH temps are also fine. They are the lowest so far from all systems I’ve had and usually stay around 70-75C

I’ve used hwinfo to moniter temps and they all seem fine. CPU, ssd, pch, gpu. None of them come up with any issues when gaming. The back of the system is lifted up.

no if is touching part of the chasis. that is exactly what happen on those models when you put a thermal pad

Hi, I have experienced your problem once which was a software issue or a windows 10 issue. I was not able to solve the problem as it was a pain looking for one. I only fixed it by loading my macrium reflect backup which I know was stable. I suggest if you have a back up then roll back to the most stable one if not and you have time I suggest do a clean windows install. Sorry if I am not very helpful. Just want you to know what I experienced. k bye..

Thanks. I’ve reinstalled the system but it didn’t fix it. A technician is coming over today and will also replace my motherboard together with my speakers.

The issue seems to pop up very randomly but when it does it’s super annoying. I’m not getting any other events than the event ID14. I’ve never had something hard locking before without a hardware issue somewhere.

Tech came by today, replaced the motherboard with a new one (not refurbished) and also my speakers (different issue). Setup the system, everything seemed fine and just after he left I noticed that the battery wasn't charging and after a reboot I got the error message about the AC adapter not being recognized.

I've tried flashing the BIOS, resetting CMOS by taking out the connector and battery and it doesn't seem to do anything for it.
    Maybe the PSU is defective?

Always use ePSA basic tests after tech has completed his/her job. I feel the DC IN cable on daughter board might be loose.

We did, and that's why we both thought it was fine. Apparantly not. I've checked that cable and it seemed ok, but I'll re-seat it just in case.

I just went and checked the cable again. The connector was connected but not fully seated apparently. Re-seated it and the laptop is charging again. You're a lifesaver Vasudev!

Happened to me when tech assembled everything and it wasn't charging and had to remove entire thing.
