    1366x768 or 1920x1080 for Alienware 13?

I'm torn between getting the 1366x768 screen or the 1920x1080 screen for my Alienware 13. I'll mainly be browsing the web and playing games like WoW.

Is the 1366x768 screen resolution good? I've read that the 1920x1080 screen resolution on 13.3" screens makes the text and images really tiny.

1366x768 is A W F U L. The TN panel in use is horrible. Avoid it at all costs.

    Opt for the OLED screen.

But I don't want burn in which is why I'm getting the IPS instead of the OLED

You can just get a screen saver and enjoy a VASTLY superior display.

Please don't make the same mistake I did on my 13 r2 and go for the 1920x1080 panel. No doubt running games in 1366x768 nets you more fps but the image quality is no good compared to 1920x1080.

Please don't torture yourself by getting the 1366x768 lcd. In this day and age, its simply not worth the horror. Go for the 1920x1080.

Also, the OLED only comes as 2560x1440 pixels. The 1920x1080 is still IPS.

Actually, just get the OLED version if your finances allow it.

The Full HD panel means your AW13 will have physical bezels and backlight bleed, which to me, are deal breakers.

Why do people even get the HD panel if the difference in price isn't that big?

    The OLED screen is heaven.

FHD and OLED. Anyway switch to Dark theme in W10 and all's good.

I've not heard of any cases of burn-in with the OLED so I wouldn't worry about it (there's even a power profile that will automatically dim your screen when you're not looking at it - although when you're gaming I would go with 'High Power' instead and then switch back after you're done).

Install Winaero tweaker and add Power options to context menu for easy access.

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to go with the 1920x1080 since I can't drop the extra $350 for OLED.

1920x1080 is a good option as well. But yeah, 1080p IPS is now the standard minimum for a gaming laptop to even be considered as "decent". Anything worse is not even worth talking about.

Have you looked at outlet systems? You can sometimes find really good deals and you can also get a SkyLake machine (which will run almost identically to a KabyLake one but likely be significantly cheaper).

It really depends on the size of the laptop. Back when 11" gaming netbooks were a thing, I'm looking at you m11x and w110er, you didn't need anything higher than 1366x768 because there wasn't enough display to make use of anything higher resolution (also the hardware wouldn't have kept up).

$350 Is not "that big" of a difference? You can get a pretty beastly 27" monitor for that price. The Full HD panel they have on the AW13 is actually pretty good (unlike the 15" model).

I'm talking about the difference between the HD and the FHD panels. Read my comment again.
Yes, the OLED screen is overpriced, but it looks much better and it doesn't have the ugly backlight bleed and the thick bezels.

I have and the outlet systems are higher in price than if I got a new one. I plan to have 512 SSD and 8 gb of ram. The outlet systems for that push $1,600 and I don't want to spend more than $1,500. Budget is tight.

Human eye can't see more than 60 fps. I get email notifications on floppy disks.

I have had the unfortunate experience of working with a Panasonics CF 53. For work applications, it is good and fulfills its roll really well. But I would have nightmares if I started using it for personal stuff.Anything less than 1080p on a 13" or larger is just not worth it.

Trolling? FPS has nothing to do with 1366x768 vs 1080p.

Frankly the AW 1366x768 looks like crap anyway (even if it was an acceptable laptop screen restitution, which it isn't) Extremely poor quality TN panel.

Yea course I'm messing around. The 60 fps thing is a bane.

    640k should be enough. :)

The human eye can't see more than 4-bit color depth anyway ;)
