The machine is very well built and is much improved over the R3, no doubt about it.

I'll be getting the GTX 1080 as well when I give this one to my sister. Stay tuned.

The repaste will be a piece of cake. I'll likely be repasting with liquid metal (Grizzly Conductonaut) sometime later today.

I've been gathering a bunch of stock data before going into battle. It's about to get crazy... :p

What is the exact weight of the laptop? Have you placed it on the scale and measured?

Can you put a video of the repaste process with the liquid metal? Would help those who haven't worked with metal thermal pastes

If I can fit it in I'll take some short clips and post them along with the photos of the repaste.

    Website has it listed as:

Average Weight: 9.74 lbs (4.42 kg)

I just weighed it myself and it is accurate.

BTW guys, just a quick thought that popped up in my head....

If you are thinking about the 17", I'd recommend opting for the GTX 1070 at the very least...ie...Don't waste your money on getting the 1060 in the 17" config; just forget that idea all together as there are plenty of other options for that. Either save up a little more to make a 1070 happen in the 17" or just opt for the 15" and go with the 1060 if you must....

The 17" deserves to have at least a GTX 1070 in there IMO....of course the GTX 1080 as well, which will have a completely different thermal construction inside by the way...

Does anyone have throttling due to power? Gpuz indicates constant throttling and boosts to around 1550-1600. Temps fine 66c gaming - all stocks clocks and stock paste.

1070 with the QHD 1440p g-sync will the sweetspot i reckon, saying that if the 1080 cools as well as the 1070 (respectively) then i may go for that...

4k is still to heavy for the 1070, at least in newer tripleA games unless you are happy with 30 fps.

Gta 5 60 frames - no AA, all other settings high/ultra. The 4K panel colours are amazing much better than previous 1080p panel on last years r3. AC Syndicate around 34 fps. Witcher 3 - around 35-40 fps ultra settings. This is with stock clocks.
