Hello guys, I am trying to dual boot preinstalled Windows10 with Ubuntu. I have Windows 10 O.S. on 950 pro SSD.
I have disabled secure boot, fast boot upon reading some posts related to this online.
In the live usb, the SSD doesn't show up when I type: sudo fdisk -l in the terminal which means I cannot install Ubuntu on SSD.

It shows up when I enable legacy option rom along with enabled UEFI. But the problem is windows 10 doesn't boot.

I don't know what to do at this point.
Is this a problem with ssd? If yes, will the 850 evo will do the job?

I just wanted to see if anyone was successful in doing this.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Try switching to ACHI in the BIOS. The SSD isn't the problem, it is the missing or problematic device drivers. The 850evo will probably work as it is SATA.

I have tried AHCI. But Windows 10 doesn't boot. So I did not bother to check the live usb.

Well yeah, you will have to reinstall Windows boot loader. But at least check if it fixes the problem.

I just checked. Yeah it shows up in AHCI. How to reinstall win boot loader? Will that fix Windows 10 booting issue?

Boot in UEFI with Secure boot disabled. Try running Boot repair using ubuntu live-CD or Boot repair x32 or x64 bit ISO and hopefully you can get it to work.

Hello I think you misunderstood. I don't have a problem booting Ubuntu. Please re-read previous posts.

Fixing Windows boot should be simple enough, get the Windows installation media and boot from it, I believe there should be a boot fix of sorts. After that install Ubuntu.

The error it shows is: inaccessible boot device.
So I ran start up repair from USB recovery. And the start up repair shows that it failed to fix the issue.

Boot repair ISO will detect and repair Windows and Ubuntu bootloaders and it often fixes inaccessible boot drive errors. Even I had the same issues with 850 EVO m.2 along with PM951.

Yes but I haven't installed Ubuntu yet. The problem I have is Windows 10 won't boot in AHCI mode but will boot in RAID mode. As said by the other poster, it was a AHCI driver issue.

I just followed this little guide here and solved it: http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-ha...-ahci-mode-after-windows-10-installation.html

    Thanks for all the replies.
