Os10, thank you for the daughterboard schematic.
It confirms what was predictable; Vostro 3450's daughterboard employs the older generation Renesas USB 3.0 controller, namely μPD720200.

All this pertains to a separate thread that I am soon starting.

Another thing it's saying is that there's no SATA interface to that card slot, when there is...

I understand what you say, purely by watching schematics' Page 1, that shows a main USB 2 lane, but if you look closely at the same time the wwan controller is connected to the PCI-E too.
Page 3 and 4 show that wlan and particularly wwan controllers exist and are connect directly to the PCI-Express lane (below both chip's drawing it's written "PCI Express/ H=4" (mm).
I do know that mSata have the same exact pins that what is called mini PCIe, except for a different order in the placing with two of them.
The main non-expert criteria to verify if they are traditional mini PCIe or mSata mini PCIe is to plug the devices and see which one works, and you have already confirmed that mSata drives do function, so no need to go further in this.
They are there in the schematics and they work.

Interestingly the daughterboard picture from the Ebay item says: DAV 02PI16E0 REV:E
I wonder how many revisions are out there? http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...ernal-usb-3-0-controllers-actualized-not.html

Hi, appreciate both your explanations, I am still trying to find the component that is missing. In your opinion what should be connecting the CLK signals I mentioned before? Appreciate your suggestions.

H.A.L. if you still have the board that was removed can you kindly look at it and confirm that the two points are connected to pins 42 and 46 of CN12?

    Best regards.

Sorry, my board that came out was one without SIM and WWAN slot. What you're talking about isn't present on the board at all.

H.A.L. 9000, could you check if Vostro's with installed mSata SSD BIOS boot menu, in fact shows the WWAN/mSata option?
...It might say boot from net or similar, and choosing that option does the trick.
    Thanks

Hi All, thanks for the advise and suggestions, I managed to solve the problem, it was a solder joint on one of the pins of the SIM slot. Once fixed the SIM and 5530 card works sweetly.

    Excellent news os10!!
So the undertaped part was a ghost one, at the end...
And you don't need a new daugtherboard.

Please do share any other mod or novel usage implementation you come across.

Thanks Nspace, yes I was chasing the wrong part, will not get the new daughter board unless it is confirmed with the new chip, so far the seller has not answered my query.

I installed Garmin MobilePC and the GPS locks even inside the house. This is super  . The 5530 from AT&T is also not simlocked tested on 3 nets as of now.

I can also confirm that this mod works on a Inspiron N4110 (14R) as it has the same the vostro daughter card. I had to cut open the sim opening on the bottom plastic housing with a Dremel, rest is just like the vostro, everything works.
