About the mSata drive boot option, it would be easy for you to check if there is an addition to the boot list choices with just an F2, thanks.

    Hi H.A.L. 9000,

This is great news, since you have the daughter-board I am looking for, can you very kindly check under the tape, if your's is open? I am trying to fix my board, as I am traveling out of the country and getting a replacement will be hard.

Nspace, thanks for the msata info, I did not know about that? maybe if the wwan card does not work then I will go that way. But my need now is for wwan and hspa.

    thanks again and best regards,
    OS

I don't have that slot populated on mine. I bought the board for future expansion. BUT, I'll check with the Vostro's at work and get back with an answer. :)

Mine isn't open, and as you probably know... the Vostro 3450 is a pain to take apart. :( Sorry, I wish I could help you there...

Thanks HAL, I understand, how about the daughter-board that you took out to put the e-bay part in? does that have the black tape covered component? if so can you check?

It doesn't. Seems it's specific to the WWAN daughterboard.

OK, so the board you purchased from ebay has the sim slot and also USB 3.0 ports work fine right? with the dell drivers and are transfer speeds as published?

The SIM slot works fine with WWAN, yes. The USB 3.0, IDK. I've never used them. I use eSATA. They seem to work fine with the USB 2.0 devices I've used, with those being the only ports that still have power with the notebook asleep.

Great! looks like I will have to fork out the 60 bucks for a new card, that is ok, but wonder if it will take forever to get where I am :D , I might be even gone when it arrives. Kindly try when you are at work if there is a 3450 open.

    best Regards.

Also I traced the two points when mine was open, which go to CN12 pins 42 [CLK_PCIE_LANP] and 46 [CLK_PCIE_USB30P] signals. I have the schematic, wonder if it is just a jumper to give the clock?
