Just make sure you check the condition of the chassis structure. Many refurbish models from the M6600 are coming with warped bottom enclosures and scratches. The paint and surface integrity on the M6600 are not that good.

However the warranty is top notch if you want them to ever replace the chassis stuff and assuming the parts they use are also good.

In fact I am still dealing with Dell on getting a good-conditioned M6600 replacement since September. Woot.

Warped bottoms? How badly warped is it? My friend got a refurb xps and it looks just fine, I would imagine the top shelf workstation would've had even less issues especially if it's not a scratch and dent.

2X60 processors starting to show up for the M6600. Looks like they updated Large Business and Enterprise first.

Some can't latch properly to the top lid so you will see a lopsided lid when closing it together and also a few gets scratched a bit out of the box.

I haven't had a single refurbished unit come out of the box without the bottom enclosure fitted properly. Just a warning as I went though three already...

Back when it was $150 they needed to be smacked. Ordering this machine with a dual core is a waste. No other way of saying it. Complete waste.

Isn't the customer support/warranty good for the precision line? Surely they can send out replacement parts to get things fixed. Would be silly if they received the returned warped laptop and just threw it on the outlet just to have that one returned again. Big waste of time for them and however much money that costs to process the units.

Yeah but even their replacement parts are a bit damaged at times. It was the reason why I went replacement after three defective base enclosure replacements. Let me tell you it is always the base enclosure that is the problem...

Their support and warranty is great but it takes forever for them to resolve anything though and they often get one or two things wrong for every one thing they get right. However despite you think that they are wasting their time with the refurbished method, that is sadly what they are doing. Most of the units I got a refurbished replacements are terrible in condition. The ones I have gotten should of been considered Scratch and Dents and not a Certified Refurbished. It is a pain really. You must also take note that Outlet Business Systems, the warranty exchange policy is to essentially replace the defective system with another refurbished that is most likely going to be sold within the Outlet network. You must be very patient and very persuasive to get them to do Factory-Built New on top of a huge case history.

The thing I will say for Dell Outlet is to use it to get stuff from the consumer end. The reason being is that consumers often take care of their units that they return where Dell then sells them as an refurbished on the Outlet (like Alienwares). However the Precisions that often get lying around Outlet are from corporations and you know how work computers are treated by employees... Therefore on your end, you are ending up using some company's returned trash as your beast machine.

So I will tread carefully with Dell Business Outlet myself. As for the M6600 itself, if you do get one with a good chassis condition and specifications, it is a great system compared to its rivals and price point. Their service is not that bad actually but by buying Outlet over Dell Store New, you are already placed in a position of some strings attached and some loopholes to encounter when your unit has problems. Just saying out here as a word of caution.
