Personally, unless I need a laptop for myself right now, I would wait for Penn State to admit me first, make sure I am going to be a Penn State student before making a purchase that's going to cost a good chunk of change. Of course, if money is not an issue for you then this is not a problem.

Dell tend to have good sale during month of October and January. Those are their 3rd quarter and final quarter month so when they need to make earning look good, we tend to get better bargains. You already missed the October special so you can wait for January deals. I purchased my previous 2 Dell laptops around those months.

I cant believe I am saying this but HP wins again

They had the ips months before dell They got the 5010 months before dell and now they have the 2960 and other variants way before dell

I understand QA testing but dell where are you at I mean pick up the pace Just because their tests take longer doesnt necessarily make them better it just shows me they dont put the man power and resources behind getting it done promptly I really want this machine but if they cant get the top notch components till months after the competition something is wrong and I cant wait all year

I hope someone can convince me that I am wrong about this and give me some good solid reasons that I should stay with dell

There was a previous post from someone who called Australia Dell support, and they said that the new processors (2*70QM) will be available on 17 Nov (tomorrow). That is what I am waiting for...

I agree for the laptop purchase, and I am waiting. The admission letter should come any day now since the program starts in Jan, and becuase that is what the program director told me last friday. If for some reason I don't get in, I can sell the SSD or install into my desktop. Either way, it will be fine.

I've been a loyal ThinkPad user for years. When it came time to upgrade, I chose the Dell M6600 because they had a 17’ Multi-Touch w/Stylus screen. I liked the ability to use my laptop like a $2K+ Wacom Cintiq and I’d be ready for beta testing Windows 8. Now that I’ve got it, the screen seems to hurt my eyes. Has anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone used the M6600 with the RunCore mSataIII RCP-V-T50XX-MC card? I have successfully got it to work in the SATA HD bay, but I can’t get it to work or be recognized by Device Manager in the mSATA slot.

Is the screen Wacom certified? Or is it the same type as the one of ipad?
I've tried T410s and W510 multi-touch models, the screens are yellowish and pretty thick.
BTW, I'm a Thinkpad fan but since Lenovo has discontinued it's 17" line, I've ordered a M6600 instead.

The touchscreen is not in the same league as the wacom cintq as far as levels of pressure sensitivity and detailed accuracy the wacom is far ahead

I have heard both that it is at least as good as an ipad and that its not as good as an ipad but given no stylus and the price of an ipad screen boo ku Id say they are similar but not the same type per say

The touchscreen is a bit thicker than the standard screen given the fact that it sits over the panel and it has a glossy ness which is kinda a downer

There is a good in depth review of it on this site and I think most say the gloss is not a huge issue but weather it has a yellowish tint or hurts your eyes are good questions
