    Guys,

I'm in a situation that simply calls for the ultimate graphics card - the Quadro 4000m is great, but I guess I'll be swapping it with the 5010m.

Assuming I make my deal, how much are those interested prepared to pay for my 4-months-old 4000m? PayPal is OK - please PM me if you prepare :)

    Piotr

I was referring to the pure raw power of the ATI M8900.
AMD/ATI provides monthly new drivers for their graphics cards, so I would state the driver support is nearly perfect.
I cant say anything about things such as quality control or firmware issues because it is my first AMD/ATI product since 1995.
In the case of the Dell Precision M6600 the Nvidia Quadro 4000M graphics card was so much overpriced that I had no choice.
I just wanted an affordable but real powerful solution and so I ordered the M6600 with ATI M8900.
Portability was never a topic for me therefore I have a smaller HP EliteBook 2540p.

Scott RC-TEK has already mentioned it once before:

huoyjii, I have the same idea as you do, since optimus could reduce the power consumption a lot. Since I won't get my m6600 until next week, I'm looking forward to your result (if it works, it would prove that the motherboard is the same for nv model and ati model). BTW, I'm wondering if it's possible to keep the gpu slot empty so that only the intel gpu could work?

    From Dell Website:
Alignment with industry color standards: Alignment with industry color standards: PremierColor-supported Dell Precision laptops have 100 percent color gamut coverage, which can cover 72 percent sRGB, 100 percent NTSC and 100 percent AdobeRGB.

72% sRGB? Isn’t the sRGB a smaller color space then NTSC and AdobeRGB?

The rgbled IPS panel does cover 100% of AdobeRGB. sRGB is approximately 72% of AdobeRGB. You should be able to put the panel into sRGB mode or AdobeRGB mode. NTSC mode is wider than AdobeRGB. It is basically everything eyes can see once you have enough bits. This is why true 10 bit color matters so much.

That IPS is WAY too expensive, IMHO.

Anyone have any game frame benchmarks for the m8900? How much of a decrease it is really from the 6970m?

Hope I am not bumping this thread. I am just in the thro's of purchasing an M6600 or Vostro 3750. I am swayed to the M6600. I am slightly worried about the hype on the keyboard flexing as I am a software designer and graphics editor so I do a lot of keyboard input. Is this a real issue. Also I am going for the standard screen 1920*1080p FHD with quadro2000 2Gb so is the screen as sharp as my outgoing Vostro 1700 1920*1200 wuxga?

It is all relative. How much is it worth to have color out in the field as good as your desktop? This screen promises to be a no compromises accurate panel for people that need it. I can see news photographers and videographers being all over the IPS screen. No more spot proofing as close as you can get it on location and having to rely on another editor when you upload the files. This is like carrying a full 10 bit wide dynamic range monitor with you. It is a very big deal for a lot of people - myself included. I just hope it measures up to my very high expectations.

On the other side of the coin is availability and cost. Only HP and Dell have these panels. Dell sells them for $100 cheaper than HP.

What keyboard flex??!! Based on my experience with M6600 for 1+ weeks, the keyboard is SOLID. Sure, if you really "press" it down on the key and take the efforts to "look" at it, it flexes a little. But in normal usage... I say the keyboard is as solid as any good one.

It is the same and have been confirmed... See Scott's post and information on replacing with a 4000M. I am going to try a 3000M very soon and will report back anyway...

One of the Dell's ProSupport tech seems to suggest that it is possible, but he said he never actually tried it. Technically, I see no reason why not too. But I am not going to try that as I need the >= 3 monitors support.
