don't suppose you still have the details on that one do you ? looks like it'll be the one i need, and i don't like a lot of them that look like they've had the front panel for a dvd grafted on there !!

Figures it would be the most expensive ! ..... i like their cable as well, that could be handy for a test of something, but unfortunately.... wrong side of the dam world from me !!!!

there are some of the genuine dell 320gb HDD modules on ebay uk, however they are £95 ..... one is £69 and described as "refurbished" not exactly sure how you go about refurbishing one of those exactly !!

That drive caddy does look better than many of the one's i've seen.

I now have 2 of these external media bays, and something arriving tomorrow that will determine which i keep, got a friend at work that i will try and sell the other one to :D :D

    Well my experiment failed :(

using the 5M75X media hub (that's the one for Latitude E6420 with the curved faceplate) i tried to then use a P5MKF 2 port USB3 module in there ..... and failed :(

initially, there is a small plastic bar on the back of the usb module, that stops it installing all the way into the media bay, so i took the media pay apart and attached the connector and cable directly to the module, and plugged it into the side port .... nothing, not even an acknowledgement that something had been plugged in ... boo

Checked in device manager, nothing new seen :( then looked to the instructions for it, and it does say you need to install the USB3 drivers first..... but, given that i am trying this out on an XPS 702x laptop, that already has the latest USB3 drivers installed, i don't want to risk screwing the system up trying to install drivers that were intended for the latitude, albeit the drivers in the pack are infact NEC ones, the same as i have installed just older, so the only think i can think of is that the module is only allowed to be connected to the internal bay of the laptop possibly due to port multiplying reasons ? ... there is only 2 ports on the usb thing, and realistically, if your gonna build a hub into somethign add four ports if you have the space, so i am thinking this is done slightly differently and needs port multiplying to be available on the sata channel, which i'm guessing its not
