I owned a HP dv7-4290us and am thinking of returnning it due to the sandy bridge issue. I am considering getting a e6510 instead for the following reasons:

    1) i really like a 1920x1080 screen over the 1600x900 (i got the dv7 rather than dv6 is just for the 1600x900)
    2) i want a smaller screen if i can, 15.6 rather than 17.3

But I do like the i7-2630qm performance.

    I have a couple questions:

    1) does anyone know when E6510 will have the sandy bridge processor?
    2) should i wait for it or just get the i7-740qm on the e6510 now? (based on HP i have til april 31 2011 to return my dv7)
    3) would e6510 have option for blu-ray player?
    4) does anyone bought a ssd, and what it's your WMI? What brand of ssd that comes with dell?

    Thanks a lot.

Note: I don't know why my labtop's infor is not shown up on my posting. I have to manually put it here:

I just got a batch of E6510's in for work. What's up with the crappy screens? They almost look rasterized. These are the 15.6" models with the 1366x768 resolution set at 32-bit running Windows 7 (latest updates). I hate to say it, but they look better at 16-bit, lol. For example, we have the Classic theme on and the blue bars on the windows have distinct rasterized-style stepping (not present on other model laptops). There's no option for 24-bit, so I don't know if that is what the screen requires. Any ideas?

Windows 32-bit... it BETTER have 2GB of RAM, else someone screwed up.
Super low resolution on a 15inch screen..
    Classic theme... oh boy... Anyway...

The problem seams to be a graphic driver problem. I presume you also have the Intel GPU, correct?

Uninstall the Intel GPU drivers, and get the latest one on Intel web site. If that doesn't help, use older drivers from Dell website.

    Hi Everyone,

I just bought one of those notebooks from authorized Dell partner. Laptop originally had Qwerty UK keyboard layout. I told seller to replace that keyboard with Qwerty US (PL) keyboard with backlight. Machine is very good and I'm very pleased with my new work tool. There is one issue which do not allow me to sleep very well. The new replaced keyboard seem a little bellied, raised at middle on about 2/3 its length. I have unpleasant sensation during typing, the keyboard seems to hmmm... drum when keys are pressed. Everything else is ok with keyboard but this sound and sensation of empty space under keys is little disturbing. Is this normal or my part is faulty or mounted unprofessionally?

I'm programmer and I type quite a lot of text daily.

The notebook has 5 year ProSupport for IT and NBD but warranty isn't transferred to me yet. I want to report this defect to remove. It's my first dell notebook and I'm not sure whether report this keyboard issue to seller or wait to finish warranty transfer?

    Thanks a lot in advance.
