Ok, but that page says that your tablet has to have Wacom technology built in, so that can't be used on every Windows 8 tablet.

Jphunhan...i think upon closer inspection and reflection your 100% correct. The fact that everything works fine when plugged into the wall and not ok when on battery suggests there is some sort of power issue or some kind of ....yes i have to say it again...defect in yet another machine from dell. I also noticed that when i was on the internet ..on a page with a grey background the flickering could be seen when the intel card is enabled. So to your point when disabling the intel card and using only the nvidia card, some of my work applications when loading resulted in temperatures that forced the fans to kick in whereas with the intel card enabled temperatures do not reach nearly as high, and the one thing i do not want as much as possible is high degrees of heat especially with programs that are used multiple times per day everyday in addition to the impact on the battery that you discuss.

so what do i do? its either a replacement or a return.....again! i have to say this is absolutely absurd.

Basically , my non default os , bott on really high britheess until i touch the brithness setting and move it a little ...

If you have an idea about how to get it fixed , that would be great ! @ jphughan

If some one of you that own the notebook try this link finally we know if is it possible to use a pen pressure enabled device onto the nice and powerfull Dell M3800

This could interest me but also people like Black cat.

    Thank you again

That is by design. Display brightness is controlled by the operating system, so when the operating system boots, it will automatically set your display back to the brightness setting that was last used when you were last using that operating system. So for example if you use your first Windows 8 environment, set your brightness to 100%, then switch over to your second Windows 8 environment and turn your brightness down to 60%, when you come back to your first Windows 8 environment, your brightness will automatically be moved up to 100% again rather than staying at 60%. The reason is that when you adjust your brightness, you're actually changing the brightness setting inside the Power Options settings. Windows checks those when it starts and makes any required adjustments to set up your hardware to match those settings, rather than looking at the state of your hardware (like your current brightness settings) and changing your Power Options settings to match what is currently set. But if there's a single brightness setting you like, just make sure to set that in the Power Options of both operating systems and you should be fine.

Unfortunately I don't know what you can do at this point. I would offer to use our internal "Help a Customer" option to escalate this, but it sounds like you're not having any trouble getting service, it's just that you're not getting a problem-free system. You might consider getting a parts replacement on it if for no other reason than to have the chance of getting this solved more quickly. Based on the symptoms, it sounds like the motherboard would be the most likely candidate since it has the power regulation circuitry, but a replacement there could potentially introduce coil whine. The display would be a distant second candidate, though a replacement there which could potentially introduce dust. Of course both of those risks would be present with an entire replacement system. But the third possibility in my mind is the battery itself rather than the power regulation on the motherboard. I don't think that's the issue, but if you do call Dell for replacement parts, you might be able to convince them to send a battery along with the motherboard and/or display and have the tech start by just replacing that component. It's a quick and easy job and avoids the risk of introducing other commonly experienced hardware issues on this system.

Good luck and sorry you've had such a terrible experience! :(

I just ran the checker utility on my XPS 15 and was told that this system did not have Wacom functionality and therefore did not support this driver.
