How can I sign up for their mailing list? I get coupons for the Home outlet but not the business one. I hope I luck up on a sweet deal like that.

The M1330 running cool?! Jane, Jane, Jane...we must redefine your ideas about temperature! I assure you, that you can fry an egg on the M1330's CPU/GPU heatsink assembly, keep yourself warm at night, use it to dry your clothes, umm...you get the idea.

I can say this with authority since I have had a M1330 (which failed due to its flawed thermal dissipation design). Had to wait six months before I was in the States to get the mainboard replaced.

Edit: Perhaps his M1330 has the onboard X3100 graphics, that might explain the lack of heat.

mekmek86: Honestly, I got signed up when I made my first Outlet purchase way back when, but you should go to the 'Corporate Account Subscription Center' and sign up for Business Outlet emails. Try this link.

Anyone else have problems when playing audio on their E4200? If I'm connected wirelessly, mp3s would skip every few seconds. But if I disconnect from my WLAN, sound plays perfect.

I tried installing latest sound/wireless lan drivers from dell. I also tried unistalling dell's audio drivers and use Vista's instead, but that did not solve the problem.

Ahh your card is the 1510. No experience with that. I can attest, however, that my Intel 5300 is flawless with *most* wireless routers. I play music in Rhapsody daily wherever I am in the world and it streams just fine from within the thick client.

I am getting an N-class Belkin Vision router tomorrow, should be interesting to see how it works out.

Yes, the Penryns are 45nm chips as opposed to our older Merom chips that are 60nm. A shrunken die definitely makes a difference. I think the TDP is at 25W vs. 35W for an average Merom. By the way the M1210 (which I have owned) was a heater compared to both the M1330 and the E4200. The Mini 9 is the only fanless netbook I know of. It's a small trade-off for having no noise at all (heat vs. sound). The E4200 doesn't run hot. I run it 24 hours a day, and I monitor all temps using Everest. With a cooling pad (which I use for the heck of it), they are about 45 degrees but without over 50-52. I am afraid you will be a bit disappointed in this department. This is, of course, with the fan running at a very audible 6200RPM. The chassis is very small, so that is normal.

Anyway, it gets a little warm...and correspondingly noisy.

Can anyone who has the Intel 5300 AGN WiFi card in their E4200 comment on an issue for me?

I'm on my second E4200 and am about to exchange it for a third -- both with Intel 5300 WiFi. Both machines have had this obnoxious problem where the WiFi cuts out altogether when I'm transferring large files off of Windows file shares on my local network wirelessly (though the problem isn't limited to shares -- I've gotten it to occur with large downloads from a browser as well). It will transfer for awhile, and then the whole connection will basically go dead -- the transfer stops progressing, my IM client disconnects, can't ping the router or any local machines on the network, can't hit webpages -- completely dead. I can get it to come back by flipping it off and on with the E4200's hardware switch, but obviously that's not ideal.

Has anyone else with the Intel 5300 card seen this? I'm hoping it's not a hugely prevalent problem since I otherwise love the laptop, but this is definitely frustrating since I'm 2-for-2 in E4200s that have it. As a reference example, I just tried copying a 3.8 GB Visual Studio ISO off of my file server, and the wireless has died three times now. Haven't even come close to finishing the file transfer yet.

Are you using an N router? I have the Dell 1510 card and I am currently experimenting on transferring large files to see if there's any problem.

if any other images are required - let me know :) for example, if anyone wants to see it with the battery slice attached or sat next to a M1330.
