It's clearly stated that the 19 hours is with the 12-cell + 9cell battery found on the Latitude E6400 (14inch). You can still return the machine, if you want.

If you would call Dell in your order you could have asked for the backlit keyboard which is quieter.. I got it for free just for asking on my Lat E6400.

    Wow, that is definitely something!

Is the climate very cold where you live? Like I mentioned in this thread earlier, if you cool the machine to under 40 degrees (C) or so, the fan shuts down completely. You are so right. Six years after the X1 they could have designed a fanless machine.

I'm sure the processor on the X1 puts out a lot less heat. That's like getting mad that Ferrari has a bigger radiator on a car that is new compared to an older one.

No, there was a coupon that expired on 3/18. You have to be signed up with them for the deals. I got one in email.

mvalpreda, yes, of course the TDP for the SU9400 is higher (don't forget the die has shrunk by 50% or more, the P-Ms were what, 90nm?), but it isn't all that different and technology has progressed sufficiently for Dell to have put their heart into the game and designed a fanless laptop.

Of course....the X1 was a rebranded Samsung. Samsung and Sony (and LG) have long been leaders at miniaturization. Innovation appears to be in short supply at Dell these days. Am I being too harsh? The E4200 could have been a much, MUCH better machine than it is. Clearly Dell put thought into it, they just didn't put enough thought into it.

You could also check Dell Outlet's Twitter site: http://twitter.com/delloutlet They post coupons on a regular basis.

I scored an E4200 for US$570 incl taxes after I used a 15% off coupon. At that time I found 2 laptops priced at $619 and $629 (before coupon), which I believe was a price mistake and most likely should have been $819 and $829. I quickly grabbed the $629 which has bluetooth.

I am very happy with it. This is the first time I've owned a Dell and I'm loving it.

Now, where can I find the perfect sleeve for an E4200 with a 6-cell battery?
